Leila Jelvani, MSW, LMSW

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with specialized experience in treating adolescents and adults with anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

My approach to treatment is collaborative; I work with clients to determine goals and areas for intervention.  I use evidence based treatment methods which include cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness in my practice. I provide in office sessions, out of office sessions, online sessions and group therapy.  Out of office sessions include home visits, or sessions that take place outside of the office so that I may help clients overcome challenges in the setting they typically take place in.

I received my Master of Social work with a specialization in behavioral health from University of Maryland, Baltimore.  During my practicum, I completed a one-year internship as a mental health therapist at The SEED School of Maryland, as well as a one-year internship in forensic social work at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.

My additional training experience includes the study of exposure and response prevention for OCD at the University of Pennsylvania Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety.  I am a professional member of the International OCD Foundation and serve on the board of Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Work.
